shooting_nighttime.jpgA San Francisco Municipal Railway bus was struck by gunfire last Friday night but no one was injured, police said today.

The shooting was reported at about 11 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Third Street and Paul Avenue, according to a newsletter distributed by the Police Department’s Bayview Station.

Officers responded and met with the Muni driver, who said that when she stopped at the intersection, she heard a gunshot and saw all of the bus passengers ducking down, police said.

The Muni operator then drove the bus away from the intersection and stopped on Jennings Street, where many of the passengers got out, according to police.

Investigators located gunshot damage to the rear of the vehicle but the bullet apparently did not penetrate the bus, police said.

The shooting is under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or send a tip by text message to TIP411.
