taxi.jpgA pedestrian who was fatally struck in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood by a taxi that allegedly ran a red light on Saturday has been identified by the medical examiner’s office as 38-year-old Edmund Capalla.

The collision was reported at 6:54 p.m. Saturday at Eddy and Larkin streets.

Based on statements from witnesses at the scene, the preliminary investigation indicates that the taxi ran through the red light and struck Capalla, who was taken to San Francisco General Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said.

The taxi driver has not been arrested or cited in connection with the crash, pending further investigation, Esparza said.
