police-light-bar1.jpg12:20 PM: A bomb squad has determined that a suspicious device found near the Panhandle in San Francisco this morning is harmless, a police spokesman said.

A gardener found the object in the area of Central Avenue and Oak Street and called police at 9:02 a.m., San Francisco police spokesman Albie Esparza said.

The bomb squad arrived and determined within half an hour that there was no threat, and the scene was cleared, he said.

10:08 AM: Police are investigating a report of a suspicious device found along San Francisco’s Panhandle this morning.

A gardener discovered the device in the area of Oak Street and Central Avenue and called police at 9:02 a.m., police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said.

Police are setting up a perimeter in the neighborhood and are asking people to avoid the area.
