police-light-bar1.jpg12:44 PM: An intersection in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood is back open after a crash blocked traffic for more than an hour this morning, a police spokesman said.

The crash, which involved a white city-owned pickup truck and a Jeep Liberty, was reported at 10:51 a.m. at Mission and Eighth streets, Officer Carlos Manfredi said.

Most traffic was blocked on Mission Street between Seventh and Ninth streets as the scene was being cleared, and public transit was rerouted, Manfredi said.

Mission Street was back open by noon, he said.

Shortly after the crash, the Jeep was on its side in the intersection. The truck, which has a city of San Francisco decal on its side, appeared to have only a dent. The Jeep was righted at about 11:30 a.m.

A man and woman who appeared to be the occupants of the Jeep were standing at the scene talking to a police officer shortly after the accident. The woman had a bandage around her right forearm.
