A few months ago I met a girl named Aretha Sack who said she and two friends (Janine Lee and Monica Kim Garza) were about to come out with their own line of nail polish called Floss Gloss.

Aretha told me that the San Francisco-based company was working on a one coat glitter polish. (Usually to get good glitter coverage you have to put on multiple coats.) Aretha said that as soon as they got it right, they’d launch their site. So the minute their polish went on sale I ordered the silver glitter polish called Dimepiece, and then went out and purchased the OPI silver glitter polish, Crown Me Already!.

Above is a picture comparing the results of one coat from each brand. Floss Gloss polish is the nail on the left and OPI is the nail on the right. Granted, the pics are a wee blurry (I’m not a pro photographer) but you can still see that there’s a lot more glitter on the Floss Gloss nail.

To get the coverage I want I’d have to put on two coats of Floss Gloss but with the OPI I’d have to put on at least three, if not more, coats.

According to their site, Floss Gloss is is formulated without DBP, formaldehyde, and toulene, is not tested on animals, and is vegan. And they’re local!

So although Floss Gloss is not a one coat glitter for me, I still think it’s dang better than one of the top brands of polish on the market. You can shop their collection here.
