wave.jpgThree people were rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard after the mast broke on their sailboat in San Francisco Bay this afternoon, Coast Guard officials said.

The disabled boat was reported around 3:45 p.m. near Alcatraz, said Corinne Gaines with the Coast Guard.

Crews from Coast Guard Station San Francisco responded and were towing the vessel back to shore as of shortly before 4:30 p.m., Gaines said.

Two of the three people who were aboard the sailboat went onto the Coast Guard vessel while the third remained on the disabled boat. No one was injured, Gaines said.
