Tonight, the finale of the too brief first season of “Bunheads” airs at 9 P.M. on ABC Family. Being a big fan of “Gilmore Girls” I was both eager and apprehensive when I learned about this latest effort from “GG” creator Amy Sherman-Palladino. Some of those apprehensions proved to be valid, but for the most part, the series works. Sure, she’s retreading some well-worn territory here: kooky small town characters; rapid-fire, pop culture-filled dialogue; three generations of women butting heads. But it’s the only show she’s done recently that’s come close to matching the magic of “Gilmore Girls,” so I’ll take it.

Plus, there are occasionally some great dance numbers to boot.

A marathon of the whole season starts at 11 A.M., so now’s your chance to play catch-up.

I caught the first season of “Face Off,” and being a horror fan, did enjoy the House of Horrors meets “Project Runway” aspects of this special effects make-up competition. Still, the usual manufactured reality show drama, paired with some occasionally silly challenges meant I passed after that first season.

But we’re entering the fall, and Halloween season, and some monsters that are not of the “Real Housewives” variety might be a breathe of fresh air. The new season premieres on Syfy Tuesday, August 21st, at 9 P.M. with a 90-minute episode.

Speaking of scary make-up, the season premiere of “America’s Next Top Model: College Edition” will air Friday, August 24th, at 8 P.M. on the CW.

Wait, what? “ANTM” banished to Friday nights? With new judges? No more leers from Nigel? No more insane comments from Andre Leon Talley? And the public can vote for the winners?

I think before we know it, this show is going to have to return to its room, pack its bags, and go home.

Saturday, August 25th, is TV movie night, and you’ve got plenty to choose from.

At 8 P.M. on Lifetime, Harvey Keitel, (oh, Harvey; how the mighty have fallen), stars in Fatal Honeymoon, based on the true story of that dude who may or may not have killed his wife while scuba diving on their honeymoon.

Over on Syfy at 9 P.M. Danny Trejo and Charisma Carpenter star in Haunted High. Frankly, they won me over with “Starring Danny Trejo,” but if you need more info than that, umm…it’s about a haunted high school. Done!

But wait! There’s more! Just knowing there’s a movie called Roger Corman’s Attack of the 50 Foot Cheerleader In 3D out there fills me with enough happiness to almost quell the sadness I have in knowing I won’t be able to watch it because I don’t get the Epix channel. Those lucky few who do can watch it at 10 P.M.
