BikeLane.jpgIn an effort to promote wellness and environmental stewardship, San Francisco International Airport will implement a bike-sharing pilot program for San Francisco Airport Commission employees.

The airport will work with Social Bicycles, Inc., to create and evaluate a bicycle sharing system that will give commission employees a two-wheeled way to get around SFO.

The program will be free of charge to all San Francisco Airport Commission employees who register and take a bicycle safety class. The bicycles will have GPS and will also calculate calories burned and carbon saved.

Information from user surveys and statistical data from the system’s software will be collected and analyzed to evaluate the program’s success.

The cost of the pilot program will not exceed $69,478.
