5:30 PM: A man who was critically injured in a shooting in San Francisco’s Mission District on Tuesday afternoon is now expected to survive, a police spokesman said today.
The shooting was reported around 3:20 p.m. Tuesday near 24th and Harrison streets.
The 37-year-old victim was walking when two suspects ran up and shot him in the stomach, police said.
The victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with what were initially described as life-threatening injuries, but police spokesman Officer Carlos Manfredi said this afternoon that the man is now expected to survive.
No information about possible suspects or a motive for the shooting have been released, but Manfredi said investigators do not believe it was gang-related.
