I hate to dwell on it, but I’m not going to pretend that I am not STILL sad about not having “Mad Men” on my Sunday nights anymore. I’m beginning to regret that binge I had a few weeks ago wherein a re-watched all four seasons of the series in about three days; really should have just limited it to a few a week, and made it last.

Although, I suppose I could just watch every episode AGAIN, this time with cast and director commentaries turned on. That’s not crazy at all!!!

I can’t let go! Even this week’s episode of “Frontline” has shades of “Mad Men” in it, as it’s called “Dollars and Dentists,” and is about flaws in the dental care system…and Don had that hot tooth in the season finale…see?

OK, fine. I’ve gone a tad nuts.

I’ll just this watch this “Frontline” while trying not to think about my bad tooth and how I can’t get anything hot or cold near it, and also how I can’t afford to do a damn thing about that. It’s on Tuesday, July 26th at 10 P.M. on KQED.

On Wednesday June 27th, true crime comes to primetime network TV in the form of “Final Witness,” which combines the fine acting of crime reenactments with the riveting drama of talking head interviews. In other words, it’s like a dozen other shows that you can see on any number cable channels any time of day. But if you don’t get any of those other channels, I suppose it might feel novel? 10 P.M. on ABC.

Also on Wednesday: The premiere of “The Real World: St. Thomas,” and I bet after one hour with this latest batch of dim-witted and scantily-clad twentysomethings, you’re going to wish their stories were being told on “Final Witness” instead. 10 P.M. on MTV.

Speaking of dimwits: Charlie Sheen is back on TV, on a series called “Anger Management.” HA HA HA GET IT? Because he has anger issues and beat his wife! Hilarious.

But seriously, fuck that guy. If you’re a fan, tune in to FX at 9 P.M. on Thursday, June 28th. Otherwise, wait 90 minutes and turn it to FX at 10:30 P.M. for the premiere of the new season of “Louie,” a show featuring a guy with actual comedic talent.

The new drama “XIII” doesn’t seem to have much going for it, from its dumb title, (that reads “thirteen,” if you were wondering), to it’s warmed-over Bourne plot, (secret agent wakes up with no memory, and a new face, goes on quest to FIND OUT THE TRUTH), to its placement on a network that just sounds made up (it’s Reelz, and is, in fact, real). But local girl Aisha Tyler is in it, so, what the hell. Watch it Friday, June 29th at 9 P.M. on Reelz (LOL).

Speaking of homegirls, a few other local gals are featured on the new reality series “Oddities: San Francisco,” which is set at the Haight Street store Loved to Death. It’s basically one of those completely-staged shows in which “customers” come into the store and “shop,” and the store owners try to “fufill their needs.” So, yeah, very contrived, but it’s filled with local characters, and probably someone you used to  date, so totally worth watching. It’s on Saturday, June 30th, at 9 P.M. on the Science Channel.

Rain Jokinen watches a lot of television and movies and then writes things about them on the Internet. She's a San Francisco native, and yeah, she'll rub that fact in your face any chance she gets.
