A man was arrested in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood Sunday night after police shot at him during an apparent robbery attempt, police said this morning.
Two San Francisco police officers were driving through the intersection of Fremont and Mission Streets at about 10:40 p.m. Sunday when they heard a woman scream.
Stopping to investigate, the officers saw a woman struggling with a man. The woman broke free of the suspect, who brandished a handgun.
One of the officers fired at the man, who then dropped the gun and was arrested without further incident, police said.
No suspect information was available early this morning and no injuries were reported in the shooting.
Police said the incident is being investigated by SFPD’s homicide detail, its internal affairs division, the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office and San Francisco’s Office of Citizens’ Complaints, following standard procedure in the event of an officer-involved shooting.
