A man accused of fatally stabbing another man in the back outside a Burger King restaurant in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood earlier this week made his initial appearance in court today but did not enter a plea, prosecutors said.
Clenny Thierry, 52, allegedly stabbed 42-year-old Kenneth Lyon near Ninth and Natoma streets at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Thierry appeared in court this afternoon to face charges of murder with a special allegation for the use of a deadly weapon, district attorney’s office spokesman Alex Bastian said.
He did not enter a plea and will return to court again on Tuesday.
He is being held under no bail, Bastian said.
Lyon was sitting on the curb outside the fast-foot restaurant when Thierry allegedly walked up behind him and stabbed him in the back with a knife, police said.
Lyon was taken to San Francisco General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Officers quickly apprehended Thierry a short distance away in the 1200 block of Howard Street, police said.
A motive for the killing has not yet been released by police or prosecutors.
