vote_lede_template.jpgThe tear-off stubs on ballots printed for the June 5 primary election contain a misprint, the San Francisco Department of Elections said today.

The stubs on primary ballots were incorrectly formatted to read “American Independent Party” regardless of a voter’s actual party preference. The ballots themselves are printed correctly, however, and will be counted correctly, election officials said.

The stubs, which can be kept by voters as evidence that they voted, do not play a role in tallying votes.

Voters will be informed of the issues at polling places when they receive their ballots, and those who vote by mail will receive a postcard informing them of the incorrect formatting, officials said.
