louisdmv.jpgThe family of a San Francisco woman whose body was found in a suitcase floating in San Francisco Bay in 2010 is holding a memorial Saturday.

Pearla Ann Louis, 52, was reported missing by her family May 17, 2010, and her body found the next day in the water near the Embarcadero and Folsom Street. She was last heard from May 15, when she had her daily phone call with her daughter around 6 a.m.

Police arrested Lee Bell, 49, a few weeks later. Homicide investigators said Louis and Bell, who was already in custody for violating his probation for grand theft, had a relationship.

Bell had been accused of abusing Louis on prior occasions, according to police.

Louis’ family members will hold a memorial Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Embarcadero and Folsom Street, near the shore where her body was discovered. The event is open to anyone who knew Louis or her family, or has lost a loved one.

The San Francisco District Attorney’s Office could not be reached for information on Bell’s case.
