booze.jpgCinco de Mayo is imminent and in honor of such an inebriated celebration, SFPD is going all-out to make sure you’re driving sober.

This Friday, May 4th from 7pm to 3am, motorcycle DUI saturation patrols will be all around the city.

Says SFPD Traffic Capt. Denis O’Leary, “Our Harley-Davidson Road Kings have a lot of maneuverability advantages over regular patrol cars. We can ride right up to the driver’s window and check for any signs of alcohol or drug impairment.”

“There are a lot of motorcycles on the road, and you would be amazed at how many people do not notice us until they hear the sirens.”

Cinco de Mayo proper also marks an SFPD event, as a DUI checkpoint will be set up on Cesar Chavez St. and Van Ness Ave. starting at 8:30pm.

The checkpoint, which runs from the evening on Saturday, May 5th to the early morning on Sunday, May 6th is set to be staffed by officers from SFPD, US Park Police, SFSU, and CHP.
