As previously reported, the America’s Cup is officially coming to SF in 2013. Love it or hate it, many SFians are pretty pumped about the regatta which means they’ll be watching this weekend when the America’s Cup World Series Race hits Naples, Italy.

Columbus may have sailed the ocean blue in 1492 but a lot has changed for competitive boating since the Italian (okay, fine it was Genoa back then) found a new world. For one, though the race is an ocean away, you can watch the whole thing at two SF hotspots: the Wreck Room on Friday, and The Republic Saturday and Sunday.

Says race CEO Stephen Barclay, “We are very excited to be able to bring the action in Naples to viewers across the globe and to host these special viewing opportunities in San Francisco. We think fans will love our award winning technological advances in telecasting competitive sailing and will help build new followers of the sport.”

Currently Emirates Team New Zealand leads the competition by just one point. Look for other America’s Cup events around the city as the Series progresses to Venice in May and Newport in June.

Can’t make it to any events? NBC and NBC Sports will be broadcasting the whole thing and the America’s Cup will be live streaming on YouTube at www.youtube.com/americascup so you can watch at home.
