San Francisco’s Police Commission and Youth Commission are holding a joint meeting tonight for the first time to address how to improve relations between the city’s youth and police officers.
The meeting will combine the seven-member Police Commission, which sets policy for the Police Department and handles police misconduct cases, with the 17-member Youth Commission, made up of 12 to 23 year olds who make policy recommendations regarding the city’s youth.
Young people associated with several community organizations are expected to attend the meeting to share their stories about interactions between police officers and local youth, according to Youth Commission officials.
The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. in the supervisors chambers at City Hall.
