windy.jpgA wind advisory is in place through the morning in many parts of the Bay Area as a storm passes through the region, according to the National Weather Service.

The advisory was issued at 10 p.m. Monday night and will be in effect until 10 a.m. this morning for the Bay Area coast and coastal hills, weather officials said.

The many parts of the North Bay coast and mountains, San Francisco coast, Santa Cruz Mountains, northern Salinas Valley and Carmel-Monterey region are advised of southerly winds reaching 35 mph, according to weather officials.

The strongest winds are expected near the coast, coastal hills and in the northern Salinas Valley.

State Highway 1, including the Golden Gate Bridge, is expected to be hit by gusty winds, according to the NWS.

Weather officials advise drivers that conditions will be difficult this morning and that tree limbs and debris may be strewn about.

The strongest winds are likely to blow through in the pre-dawn hours this morning.
