cover-crosswalk.jpg3:35 PM: A pedestrian was critically injured when he was pinned under a van in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood this afternoon.

The accident was reported at 2:18 p.m. at Eddy and Leavenworth streets.

San Francisco fire spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge said a man was struck by a transport van and pinned underneath the vehicle. Fire crews responded and extricated the victim at 2:38 p.m., she said.

Two ambulances were called–one for the pedestrian and another for the driver, who began suffering from a medical problem.

Both were transported to a hospital. The pedestrian’s injuries are considered life-threatening, Talmadge said.

Police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said the accident shut down a stretch of Eddy Street.

3:17 PM: A pedestrian was trapped under a shuttle bus in an accident that occurred in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood this afternoon, police and fire officials said.
