police-light-bar1.jpg11:51 PM: A man was critically injured when the host of a party he was attending in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood struck him over the head with a bottle and punched him several times early Sunday, a police spokesman said Monday.

The attack was reported at about 5:05 a.m. in the 200 block of Hyde Street, which is between Turk and Eddy, police spokesman Sgt. Daryl Fong said.

The 26-year-old victim was leaving the party when he got into a dispute with one of its hosts over the victim’s girlfriend, Fong said.

The suspect then followed the victim outside and yelled an obscenity at him, punched him, then struck him with the glass bottle, according to Fong.

The victim fell to the ground and was punched again several times by the suspect, who then went back inside the home, Fong said.

Authorities responded and took the victim to San Francisco General Hospital with injuries that are considered life-threatening, he said.

Officers went to the home where the party occurred and found the suspected attacker, 26-year-old Samuel Woodson, Fong said.

Woodson was booked into jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and battery causing serious bodily injury, he said.
