police-light-bar1.jpgA man walking on westbound Interstate Highway 80 in San Francisco was seriously injured when he was struck by a car late Sunday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The man was reported to be walking while shirtless on the highway just west of Fourth Street shortly before 11 p.m.

He was hit by a car just a few minutes later, and CHP officers responded to the scene of the collision. The driver who hit the man stopped and cooperated with authorities.

The victim was knocked unconscious, but appeared to be breathing when officers found him, CHP officials said.

The man was transported to a local hospital, but no further details were revealed about his condition.

The collision blocked lanes on I-80 for about an hour.
