shooting_nighttime.jpgPolice are asking the public for information about a shooting in the heart of San Francisco’s Mission District early this morning after officers recovered spent bullets following reports of shots fired, a police spokesman said.

At about 12:50 a.m., someone called 911 to report six to nine shots being fired at the intersection of 16th and Valencia streets, Sgt. Michael Andraychak said this morning.

Police investigated and recovered six spent bullet casings at the intersection, he said.
The witness reported seeing a gray Toyota Corolla fleeing the scene.

“It’s a possible suspect vehicle,” Andraychak said.

As of this morning, there were no identified victims and no reports of damaged property, Andraychak said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the San Francisco Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or to text a tip to TIP411.
