A woman accused of fatally stabbing another woman in San Francisco’s Potrero Hill neighborhood in March was ordered to stand trial on murder charges today, prosecutors said.
Maria Burgos, 49, allegedly stabbed Ernestine Herron, 26, at about 11:30 a.m. on March 28 outside a home in the 1000 block of Connecticut Street between 25th and Wisconsin streets.
During an altercation between the two women, Burgos allegedly used a knife to stab Herron in the neck, prosecutors and police said.
Burgos was arrested shortly after the stabbing and pleaded not guilty to murder with a special allegation for use of a knife, prosecutors said.
Following a preliminary hearing that ended today, Burgos was held to answer on all charges, according to the district attorney’s office.
She will return to court on Dec. 27 for formal arraignment on the charges.
