49ers.jpg7:09 PM: San Francisco 49ers’ officials are anticipating that very few playoff tickets to be available when they go on sale to the general public on Tuesday and are restricting the number of tickets fans will be able to purchase per customer to accommodate the high demand.

Season ticket holders and those who have already ordered season tickets for 2012 have until the end of the day today to order 49ers playoff tickets before they become available to the general public on Tuesday.

All single game playoff tickets will be sold through Ticketmaster on a first come, first served basis.

There will be a limit of four tickets per customer, down from eight per customer as originally planned, to accommodate the high demand.

When that first playoff game will be depends on whether the 49ers get one last win over the Rams in St. Louis on Sunday. A win over the Rams will give the 49ers a first round bye, and their first game will be in Candlestick Park on Jan. 14 or 15.

If the 49ers lose this weekend, and the New Orleans Saints win on Monday, San Francisco will host its first playoff game on Jan 7 or 8. The full NFL playoff schedule will be announced on Monday.

According to 49ers officials, most season ticket holders have already ordered playoff tickets, and only a few stragglers remain.

Those fans may still be stunned by the 49ers remarkable turnaround from their 2010 season, when the 49ers won only six games and finished third in the NFC West.

Under rookie coach Jim Harbaugh, who joined the team from Stanford University, the 49ers have already won 12 games this season and clinched the NFC West division and a playoff appearance several weeks ago.

Team officials are expecting playoff tickets to move quickly, and are recommending anyone interested buy their tickets early or risk watching the game on television.
