A three-alarm fire caused more than $1.4 million in damage to two residential buildings near San Francisco General Hospital on Saturday night, a fire department spokeswoman said today.
The blaze was reported at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday at 1368 Utah St., a block and a half south of the hospital, and spread to an adjacent building, fire spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge said.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze at about 10:40 p.m. but stayed at the scene until 7 a.m. the next day to ensure that the fire did not re-ignite, Talmadge said.
The blaze caused about $1.1 million in damage to the structure of the home at 1368 Utah St. and $250,000 to its contents. Damage to the neighboring building, which contains 1360 and 1364 Utah St., was estimated at $75,000, according to Talmadge.
No one was injured in the fire, which displaced seven adults and three children, she said.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
