sfpd_squad.jpgA man was slashed in the face while sitting at a San Francisco Municipal Railway bus stop in the city’s Mission District early this morning, police said.

The attack was reported at 3:17 a.m. at 16th and Mission streets.

The 40-year-old victim was sitting at the bus stop when a suspect approached from behind and cut his face with a knife, according to police.

The attacker, a man in his late 40s, fled on foot and had not been found as of this morning, police said.

The victim was taken to St. Francis Memorial Hospital to be treated for his injuries, which are not considered life-threatening.
