bartpolice_generic.jpgThe holidays can be a very dangerous time, what with materialism at an all-time high and thieves just aching to have that Mariah Carey Christmas album twice as much as you, which is why BART police say they will be adding extra patrols in downtown SF stations, and will be offering police escorts to those who park outside some East Bay stations.

According to BART, riders who get off in West Oakland on Thursday, Dec. 15, and Friday, Dec. 16, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., volunteer “Pedestrian Escorts” (no, not that kind), OPD Cadets and BART Community Service Officers will be on hand to escort BART customers who park at or within a three block radius of that station.

BART continues its amped up patrols along with the San Leandro Police Department next Wednesday, December 21 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., escorting riders who use Bayfair station or shop at its eponymous mall.

Safety-related materials will also be available at both escort events, so now you know what to give that special someone who has a pamphlet obsession.
