police-light-bar1.jpgA woman was attacked as she stepped out of her home in San Francisco’s Potrero Hill neighborhood early this morning, police said.

The assault was reported at about 2:50 a.m. in the 1800 block of 25th Street.

The victim walked out of her home when she was suddenly attacked from behind by another woman who began punching her in the head until she fell to the ground, according to police.

The attacker also kicked the victim several times before running away east on 25th Street. She had not been found as of this afternoon.

The victim, who was taken to San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for her injuries, insisted to investigators that she had no disputes with anyone that would incite such an attack, police said.

Anyone with information about the assault is encouraged to call the Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or send a tip by text message to TIP411.
