police-light-bar1.jpgAccording to an email from a SFPD spokesperson, some Richmond District streets are closed after a traffic collision involving a pedestrian.

In an email, SFPD spokesperson Officer Albie Esparza says that eastbound Geary Boulevard is closed between 9th and 11th Avenues, and 10th Avenue is closed between Clement and Anza streets.

The cause, says Esparza, is a traffic collision investigation in which a vehicle struck a pedestrian, leaving the pedestrian with life-threatening injuries.

According to Esparza, a 70 year old male was struck by a Toyota SUV at 10th Avenue and Geary at 7:56 AM. The victim was transported to SF General, and the driver, who stopped after the accident, remained at the scene.

“I am advising people avoid the area” says Esparza “and I am expecting the area to be shut down for quite some time.”
