sfpd_gunpoint.jpgA man was shot in the thigh in San Francisco’s Mission District on Monday afternoon, police said.

The shooting was reported at about 4:35 p.m. near 17th Street and Potrero Avenue.

Police said the 29-year-old victim was approached by a belligerent suspect who shot him once in the left thigh and then fled.

The victim got a ride to San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for his injuries, which are not considered life-threatening, police said.

The shooter had not been found as of this morning. Anyone with information about the crime is encouraged to call the Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or send a tip by text message to TIP411.
