The last San Francisco exit for drivers heading north on U.S. Highway 101 onto the Golden Gate Bridge will be closed again overnight tonight as part of the ongoing construction project to rebuild Doyle Drive, transit officials said.
The off-ramp, which leads to the bridge’s southeast visitor plaza as well as Lincoln Boulevard and Merchant Road, will be closed from 10 p.m. today through 5 a.m. Thursday.
The off-ramp was also closed overnight for two days earlier this month.
The closures allow construction crews to work on widening the off-ramp and implementing an all-way stop at Lincoln Boulevard and Merchant Road, among other improvements, project officials said.
Drivers are asked to use local roads to access Lincoln Boulevard during tonight’s closure.
The closures are part of a larger project to replace Doyle Drive, a seismically unsafe portion of Highway 101 in the Presidio.
The new roadway is expected to open in 2015.
