Two good Samaritans intervened and helped prevent a woman from being robbed in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood late Sunday night, police said.

The robbery attempt was reported shortly before midnight at Polk and O’Farrell streets.

The 28-year-old victim was trying to flag down a cab when a suspect armed with a knife came up from behind and snatched her cellphone, police said.

However, two people who witnessed the robbery detained the suspect, a 26-year-old man, until officers arrived to arrest him, police said. The man’s name was not immediately available this morning.

The woman was not injured in the robbery, and had her cellphone returned to her, according to police.
