The hot trend in contemporary dance may be more than just a hashtag. Choreographers keep looking for new and inventive ways to blur the line between performance space and the audience, and Ben Levy takes it one step further. With LEVYdance‘s fall season, the company brings us the world premiere of its interactive “ROMP.” This playful piece seats performers and the audience together at long banquet tables, where you become part of the action. Don’t BYOD (bring your own dinner, of course!), though. All attention should be on the dance, but that shouldn’t be too hard. Levy’s smart and athletic style full of beautiful imagery and a-ha moments is enough to captivate you for days on end.

What: LEVYdance’s “ROMP”
Where: Co-presented by Z Space @ Theater Artaud, 450 Florida Street
When: 8PM, Nov. 17-19; 2PM, Nov. 20
Tickets: $18-23, online or at the door

Becca Klarin writes about dance. Her first stage role was at the age of four, where she dressed in a brightly colored bumble bee tutu and black patent leather taps shoes. She remembers bright lights and spinning in circles with her eleven other bees, but nothing more. Becca also has an affinity for things beginning with the letter "P", including Pizzetta 211, Fort Point, pilates, parsvakonasana, and plies.
