San Francisco’s Redevelopment Agency has a new interim executive director, the first black and Asian woman to serve as head of the agency.
Tiffany Bohee, 37, was named as the interim head on Thursday by the city’s Redevelopment Commission.
Bohee will replace Fred Blackwell, who is leaving to become Oakland’s assistant city administrator effective Oct. 17.
Bohee is currently managing the Hunters Point Shipyard and Candlestick Point development projects for the city, according to the agency.Her appointment comes as state legislation is threatening to eliminate or reshape local redevelopment agencies.
Redevelopment Commission President Rick Swig said in a statement that Bohee “will make certain that the vicissitudes of redevelopment agencies statewide don’t impact San Francisco’s ability to maintain the commitments and opportunities of our projects.”
Mayor Ed Lee also lauded the selection of Bohee.
Lee said in a statement, “Her leadership in developing, approving and now implementing plans to redevelop the Bayview Hunters Point Shipyard and Candlestick Point are crucial to fulfilling a promise to our communities and creating jobs in San Francisco.”
Bohee, a Princeton University graduate, currently resides with her husband in San Francisco.
