monopoly_money.jpgA bank in San Francisco’s North Beach neighborhood was robbed Saturday morning by a suspect who used an open umbrella to hide himself from surveillance cameras, police said today.

The robbery was reported at about 9:05 a.m. Saturday at a Bank of the West at 480 Columbus Ave.

The suspect walked into the bank with the umbrella hiding his face, then told all three tellers, “Give me all the 20s and 100s. If not, I’ll shoot you,” police said.

The bank employees did not see a weapon, but handed over an undisclosed amount of cash to the suspect, police said. He then fled and was last seen running east on Green Street.

No one was injured in the robbery.

At the time of the robbery, the suspect had his head and neck covered with a red, yellow, green and black bandana and a black nylon face mask.

Anyone with information about the robbery is encouraged to call the Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or send a tip by text message to TIP411.
