The investigation into an August dog mauling in Pacifica that killed a pregnant woman was closed Thursday, police said.
Darla Napora, 32, was attacked on Aug. 11 by her family pet “Gunner,” a 75-pound pit bull terrier, at her home at 588 Reina Del Mar Ave.
Napora’s husband found her when he returned home to find the 2-year-old male pit bull hovering over her mauled body.
Police said Napora died as a result of the attack and no other factors led to her death.
The necropsy report for the dog–who was shot when it tried to escape when emergency responders arrived at the home–did not show any abnormality, disease or condition that may have caused the attack.
No foul play was indicated in the investigation, police said.
The San Mateo County coroner’s office, Peninsula Humane Society and two forensic odontologists, or bite experts, assisted police in the investigation.
