policeblotter_sfa.jpgAn elderly woman was hospitalized after being pushed to the ground during a purse snatching in San Francisco’s Richmond District on Saturday afternoon, police said.

The robbery was reported at about 4 p.m. near Balboa Street and 40th Avenue.

The 86-year-old woman was walking when a male suspect approached her, pushed her to the ground and took her purse, according to police.

The suspect ran away with the purse, which contained cash and the woman’s cellphone, and was still at large this morning, police said.

The elderly woman suffered a contusion to the back of her head and was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center as a precaution, according to police.
