sfpd_squad.jpgA burglar was hospitalized after falling out of the second-story window of a home he had just burglarized in San Francisco’s Mission District early Sunday morning, police said.

The burglary was reported at 12:23 a.m. in the 3100 block of Mission Street near Cesar Chavez Street.

The 20-year-old suspect, whose name was not immediately available, entered the home and took four necklaces and a cellphone, according to police.

But as he was trying to flee, the burglar somehow fell out of the window, suffering a fractured eye socket and other head injuries in the fall, police said.

Authorities responded and took the man into custody, then transported him to San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for his injuries, which are not considered life-threatening.

Officers recovered the property, which belonged to a 21-year-old woman who lives at the home, police said.
