policeblotter_sfa.jpgA man who was fatally stabbed when he allegedly broke into a home in San Francisco’s Hunters Point neighborhood early Sunday has been identified by the medical examiner’s office as 40-year-old Anthony Payne.

The stabbing was reported at 4:47 a.m. Sunday at a home in the 700 block of Kirkwood Avenue.

The female resident said she heard noises in her home and was confronted by the intruder, who began choking her, police said.

The resident used a knife to stab the intruder, identified as Payne, who later died, according to police.

More details about the case were not immediately available this morning, police said.

10:44 AM: A man who allegedly broke into a home in San Francisco’s Bayview District early Sunday was fatally stabbed by a resident, police said.

The stabbing was reported at 4:47 a.m. in the 700 block of Kirkwood Avenue.

The female resident said she heard noises in her home and was confronted by the intruder, who began choking her, according to police.

The resident then stabbed the intruder, who died, police said.

His name was not immediately available today.
