caltrain.jpgThe Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board, which owns and operates Caltrain, swore in a new board member on Friday who is familiar with Bay Area transit.

Tom Nolan, who serves as chairman of the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency board of directors, replaced former Muni head Nat Ford on the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board.

Nolan will represent Muni on the board. He joined the SFMTA Board of Directors in 2006 and was elected chairman in 2009.

This is Nolan’s second time serving on the Caltrain board. He previously served as a member of the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors.

The Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board has nine members, with three representatives from San Francisco, San Mateo and Santa Clara counties.

The board meets the first Thursday of each month at 10 a.m. at 1250 San Carlos Ave. in San Carlos.
