sfpd_squad.jpgPolice are searching for two suspects involved in a shootout that injured a 5-year-old girl in San Francisco’s Bayview District this afternoon.

The girl was walking home with her father on Third Street near Palou Avenue at around 4:30 p.m. when the father heard gunshots, police Officer Carlos Manfredi said.

The father saw that his daughter had fallen to the ground and discovered that she had been shot in her left knee, Manfredi said.

He flagged down police who called for paramedics and the girl was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries and is in stable condition as of tonight, Manfredi said.

Police said they believe there were two shooters and at least four shots were fired. The suspects were firing at each other and the girl was not the intended target, he said.

Officers are reviewing surveillance footage from a nearby store and are asking anyone who may have witnessed the shooting to call the Bayview investigation team at (415) 671-2363, the anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411.
