policeblotter_sfa.jpgA woman was beaten and robbed in broad daylight in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood on Monday afternoon, police said.

The robbery was reported at about 1:05 p.m. near the intersection of Mission and Sixth streets.

The 49-year-old woman was approached from behind by a man who punched her in the back of the head as another suspect came up to her and struck her forehead with his hand, according to police.

The woman fell to the ground, and one of the suspects grabbed her backpack and they ran away, police said.

The victim complained of pain to the back of the head but refused medical treatment, according to police.

The suspects, described as men in their early to mid-20s, had not been found as of this morning.
