cityhall3.jpgDon’t panic if you see emergency vehicles descending on the Civic Center area this morning — it’s all part of a planned exercise to help “ensure public safety in the event of an actual emergency.”

Friday morning at 10:30am, as many as 1,800 people will be participating in the third annual Civic Response event, which measures response time to an evacuation, radio frequency and coordination with only one main command post, and how tenants would respond when faced with such an incident.

Buildings to be evacuated include City Hall, the Dept. of Public Health, UC Hastings College of Law, and the Veteran’s Building.

Building fire alarms will sound and responders from state and local agencies will be on hand to make the drill as realistic as possible. ” There will be…potential traffic delays.” warns Alert SF, saying that “this exercise should last less than 60 minutes.”
