Today marks the beginning of the Fall TV season, but just barely, because there is only one new series premiere to watch tonight, (along with a few returning shows).

But for the next few weeks, you can check here daily to learn about all the new TV goodness (and badness) coming your way. So let’s get started!

Tonight’s new premiere is on the CW:

“Ringer” 9:00 P.M.

What Is It: Sarah Michelle Geller’s return to network TV! And she’s playing twins! Siobhan is a wealthy socialite, and Bridget is a recovering addict and ex-stripper. When Siobhan kills herself, Bridget seizes the opportunity to take her place, in order to avoid the mob and an FBI agent who wants her to testify in a trial. But! Is Siobhan really dead? And what secrets has she been keeping?

Why To Watch: Because you still desperately miss “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” and watching Geller every week may just help to ease that pain. The show is also somewhat unique as Geller isn’t playing someone who can see the dead, or figure out how the dead died, or solve the crime of who killed that dead person. Sure, the show is ultimately about crime, but at least it takes the long-form approach to its mystery.

Why To Turn The Channel: One of the biggest appeals of “Buffy,” and perhaps, in turn, Sarah Michelle Geller, was humor, and this looks rather solemn and grim. Also, it’s one of those shows you’ll have to, you know, actually pay attention to and watch every week in order to follow the storyline. A weekly procedural drama this is not.

Returning Shows:

The CW:

“90210” survived the chopping block last year, (no such luck for “Melrose Place”), and this season finds all those West Beverly alums graduated, and hitting college. (Well, most of them.) And what about Naomi and her pregnancy with her nerd boyfriend?! (I have a feeling that matter will probably take care of itself.) 8 P.M

NBC:

“Parenthood” follows the growing trend of returning shows jumping ahead in time, so we catch up with the Bravermans five months after the end of last season. Of course, the only character worth caring about on the show is Lauren Graham’s Sarah, and it looks like she will be hooking up with Jason Ritter again this year (thanks in no small part to the cancellation of “The Event.”) He better treat her right! 10 P.M.
