michela.jpgFormer Vice President Al Gore, who last week endorsed former Supervisor Michela Alioto-Pier in her bid to become San Francisco’s next mayor, will join the mayoral hopeful next month at a campaign event, Alioto-Pier announced today.

The $500-per-ticket event will take place on Monday, Oct. 3, at a location disclosed only upon RSVP, according to event information posted on the website for ActBlue, a non-profit political committee that supports Democratic candidates.

Alioto-Pier, who represented the city’s District 2 during her seven years on the Board of Supervisors, worked for Gore as a policy adviser before she made her first run for public office in 1996. She called the experience “one of the most important” of her political career.

“Vice President Gore truly believed government could be a force for good,” Alioto-Pier said in the announcement. “I keep that same perspective as a supervisor, and it is what I’ll do as Mayor.”

Alioto-Pier’s campaign manager, Dave Schwartz, announced Gore’s endorsement on Sept. 15.

Gore currently serves as chairman of The Climate Reality Project, a member of the Apple board of directors and a senior adviser to Google, among other roles.
