shooting_nighttime.jpgA shooting in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood sent two men to the hospital early this morning, including a bystander who was unintentionally struck by the gunfire, police said.

Police responded to the 400 block of Minna Street at about 2:15 a.m. after receiving reports of a shooting, San Francisco police Officer Albie Esparza said.

It appears that one of the victims, a man in his 40s, was walking when he was approached by a gunman who shot him multiple times in the upper and lower body, Esparza said.

A passerby, a man in his 20s, was unintentionally struck in his chest during the gunfire, he said.

Both men were taken to San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.

The shooter is described as a black man in his 20s, but Esparza said police have not released any further information.
