San Francisco police are investigating a case of suspected arson after a suspect was seen lighting a garage door on fire Friday evening.
A man told officers that he saw a suspect place papers against the garage door, pour liquid on the papers, and light them on fire, police said.
The man ran downstairs and tried to stop the suspect, who ran away. Firefighters responded and put out the fire before serious damage was done, according to police.
The suspect, who has not been found, is only described as wearing a dark blue or black hooded sweatshirt, police said.
Anyone with information about the arson is encouraged to call the Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or send a tip by text message to TIP411.
