sfpd_squad.jpgA 5-year-old boy was injured in a hit-and-run this morning while crossing a street in San Francisco, police said.

A dark green hatchback traveling westbound on Silver Avenue near Elmira Street struck the boy, who was walking ahead of a family member in a crosswalk at around 11:30 a.m.

The boy, a San Francisco resident, was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

The driver, described as a Hispanic man, drove away from the scene. The vehicle was described as a 80s dark green hatchback with a missing passenger side mirror.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at (415) 575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411 and include SFPD in the message. Anyone who spots the vehicle is asked to call (415) 553-0123 or 911.
