shooting_nighttime.jpgA shooting early this morning in San Francisco’s Mission District sent a 22-year-old man to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, a San Francisco police lieutenant said.

The shooting, which is being investigated by the city’s gang task force, happened at 19th Street near San Carlos Street around 12:30 a.m. The 22-year-old was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with serious injuries, San Francisco police Lt. Troy Dangerfield said.

Witnesses reported seeing the suspects running west on 19th Street, away from San Carlos Street toward Valencia Street. The suspects were described as approximately two 25-year-old men wearing dark clothing and hoodies, Dangerfield said.

Police believe the victim may have been mistaken for a gang member, which he is not, Dangerfield said.
