sfpd_arrestcuffs.jpgA man who allegedly struck his sister and brandished a gun at her was arrested this afternoon in the Mission District, police said.

Police were called to a home on the 1300 block of Treat Avenue around noon after the siblings fought, Sgt. Michael Andraychak said.

The sister was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, and the suspect fled to another home on the 2900 block of Folsom Street.

Witnesses told police that they saw the suspect entering the home with something in his hand, but police could not make contact with the suspect, Andraychak said. Police negotiators and tactical team members attempted to contact the suspect for some time before forcing an entry around 4 p.m.

The suspect was not inside the house, but was spotted hiding in the back yard of a neighboring home on the 2900 block of Treat Avenue and taken into custody.

The suspect is believed to have also punched his sister Friday night at the home on the 1300 block of Treat. Police have since recovered a replica BB gun at that location which is thought to be the weapon he brandished at his suspect, Andraychak said.
